ABOUT CHERYL

How it started…

I fell in to yoga after a serious injury when I was 19 years old and like many. I fell in love. Initially, I was drawn to the physical aspects. I felt stronger, healthier and more powerful. Then over time, my love deepened for this beautiful practice. The most beneficial for me was the anxiety and stress relief. Plus the clarity of mind and positive mindset. I had fallen hard for this ancient practice.

After graduating from performing arts college in 2005. I travelled with work, exploring different places and cultures. This is something I am eternally grateful for as it landed me an amazing job in 2009 in Mumbai. It changed everything. This vibrant place, calls to you and takes hold of your heart. The friendships I made; I know will last a life time. The experiences I had and the bloody hilarious stories that will make me laugh forever.

It led me to the path I am on today and brought a firm constant yoga practice into my life which then led to training as a yoga teacher. For that; I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL.

When I left for the airport in December 2009, I had no idea where this adventure would lead me but all I can say is I’m so bloody glad I did. We never know what life has in store for us. But I just know I want to take it all in and cherish every moment. If an opportunity resonates with your soul and it makes you happy go follow that path. Your future self will be so glad you did.

About my classes…

I spent the next few years exploring the vast studies of yoga and spirituality. In 2014 I took that leap of faith and jumped into my first 500HR YTT.

My classes are deeply rooted with in resetting the mind, body and soul. All to the sound tracks of deeply chilled music. I am really passionate about inspiring others on their wellness and fitness journey, encouraging students to take what they have learnt on the mat, off the mat and into their everyday lives. I use postures, alignment, pranayama breath awareness and imaginative sequencing to create a safe environment for the students. Offering a choice of modifications to what is suited to the student, encouraging them to connect, love and listen to their body.

I teach a variety of classes: Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Chair Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Pregnancy, Post Natal and Mother and Baby Yoga.

My aspirations are to continuously learn, evolve and keep on providing knowledgeable and well-informed sessions to all my students.

I try to create fun, loving spaces in my sessions. Where you can fully embrace that inner yogi, find your balance and embrace your inner magic. Some days it’s green smoothie and yoga, some days it’s sweat pants and tacos. It’s all about balance and I will ALWAYS encourage you to listen to your bodies needs.

‘I love II love, I love II love you, nobody can change my mind one of a kind.’

Not only the lyrics I sing to my dog whilst dancing in the kitchen. I like to share the love, if there is any way I can help you, I will try my best to. You are all wonderful beings and in 1997 Damage nailed it on the head with ‘You’re one of a kind’

So, if you like balance, laughs and being loved hard then come and join me at one of my classes. And if you can’t make a class just reach out and connect, after all we are all connected. Connected to the universe, to the planet, to each other.

Om Shanti
